Privacy
Paybook counts how its tools are used, anonymously, so we can see which ones help people and which topics matter to them. We don't know who you are and don't try to find out.
- Pages you open
- For example, /civilian/gs/12/san-diego-ca. These are public pages; the address holds no personal information.
- Your pay system and grade band
- For example, General Schedule, GS 12-13, or Military, E-5/6. A range, never your exact step, salary or take-home pay.
- The locality area and state of the place you pick
- For example, San Diego, California, for where you work or a travel destination on the per diem tab. Never a street, ZIP code, city or county.
- Which tools you use
- For example, opening pay tables, BAH, per diem or the take-home panel, switching the pay year, or decoding a job posting (only its job family and grade band, such as 0300 and GS 12-13).
- Take-home settings
- Filing status (single or married) and the state you chose for income tax. Not your income, TSP, health premium or own tax rate.
- Whether you have dependents
- Military only, yes or no, because it changes housing allowance.
Each visit gets a random number that lasts until you close the tab, so a visit's actions can be counted together. It's new every visit, so it can't connect your visits or identify you.
- Your name, email, phone or any account. Paybook has no accounts.
- Your IP address, device, browser or anything that could follow you to other sites. No cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party trackers.
- Anything you type into the search box. We record only what kind of thing it found (a grade, a place, a job posting).
- Your exact pay, step, years of service, or address.
Your calculator settings (grade, place, take-home choices) are saved only in your own browser so the page remembers them. They're never sent to us.
The counts are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, which runs this site, and are kept for three months. We may keep monthly totals (for example, "1,200 visits looked at BAH in San Diego") longer. Totals like that contain no individual visits.
To decide what to build and improve, and to understand what people in different jobs and places look for. We may share totals like the example above, for instance with companies whose products could fit those groups. We don't sell or share individual visits, and there's nothing in them that identifies you.
If Paybook ever offers to connect you with a company, for example a lender or an insurance provider, it will only happen when you choose to, and we'll show you exactly what would be shared before anything is sent. Any recommendations will be ranked by how well they fit you, and paid relationships will be labeled.
Usage counts are off automatically if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You can also turn them off here; the choice is saved in this browser.

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top first. Paybook is an independent tool and is not affiliated with the U.S. government.
